Nervous system–based chiropractic for pain, stress and sleep

Dr. Rachel Ijames runs Self Unbound, a chiropractic and wellness practice in North Dallas that uses NetworkSpinal care to help the nervous system adapt to stress rather than chasing symptoms. Patients come for chronic pain and tension, headaches, poor sleep, anxiety and low energy.

Dr. Rachel Ijames founded Self Unbound in July 2016 at 6600 LBJ Freeway, Suite 105, in North Dallas. She holds a Doctor of Chiropractic from Parker University and an honors bachelor's degree in literature from the University of Texas at Dallas, and she describes her care as a mix of analytical and intuitive insight.

The practice is built around NetworkSpinal, a gentle, neurologically based approach that aims to make the brain and body more adaptable and resilient under stress. Rachel also offers pediatric and pregnancy chiropractic, Somato Respiratory Integration breathing work, a HOCATT ozone sauna and Family Constellation Healing sessions. People typically arrive with chronic pain or tension, headaches, poor sleep, anxiety and overwhelm, low energy, or a sense that their body is stuck in a pattern they cannot shift.

Care starts with a free consultation. Assessments are tailored to the person and can include a discovery exam, structural and postural assessment, neurological testing and digital imaging. The practice welcomes families, children and expecting mothers, offers family plans and military and first responder discounts, and new patients do not need a doctor's order to begin.

Who should contact Rachel

Someone who has tried physical therapy, massage, medication or other chiropractors and still feels that something is missing. Also a person whose stress is showing up physically or emotionally, such as tension, headaches, poor sleep or anxiety, or someone already invested in their health who wants to see what more is possible. Parents seeking gentle care for children or during pregnancy are welcome.

Someone looking only for a quick one-time adjustment to relieve a single ache is not the typical patient; the practice focuses on changing the pattern underneath.

Service area: North Dallas, Richardson, Addison and the Dallas–Fort Worth area

The Doctors at self unbound have helped me to transform my experience of life. My 13 year old daughter went there with a tailbone injury, which is difficult to heal and within 6 months to a year they had guided her into her body healing itself. I too have been transformed. They help guide your body to become aware of where it is holding tension, and then to for me to use my breath to release it and allow energy to move through out the body. It turns out our body has an innate ability to heal itself and the doctors at self unbound help many members access that potential and gain more energy through out their nervous systems.

Believe the reviews. I’m a new participant here. I have visited with healing techniques and practitioners all over the world and it is a special gift to have Self Unbound in my backyard. Dr. Amy, Dr. Tyler, and their wonderful welcoming staff have not only assisted my body in accessing more authenticity, joy, pleasure, safety, energy in the body, and expansion but they have also created a loving and compassionate place for community. I have only completed a week of care (3 visits) and it is possible to start feeling improvement immediately if you are open to and believe it is possible for you.

This is where the real healing begins. From walking into a clinic where the staff treats you like family, to being able to properly ambulate through your daily life again. I don’t just mean at the same level before your injury, but at one greater. Coming to Self Unbound and being entrained every week for just over a year has been the most productive decision for my health that I have made in years. I am truly blessed to be welcomed into such a beautiful family. Thank you Self Unbound Family!

An incredible space for real healing. The somatic work I’ve done at Self Unbound has fundamentally changed how my nervous system handles stress. I'm excited for what else the future brings!

Questions people ask

What is NetworkSpinal and how is it different from a regular adjustment?

NetworkSpinal is a gentle, neurologically based approach to chiropractic care. Instead of focusing only on where it hurts, it works with the nervous system so the body becomes more adaptable and better able to respond to stress, which is why patients often report changes in sleep, energy and mood as well as pain.

What happens at the first visit?

Self Unbound starts with a free consultation. From there, assessments are tailored to the person and may include a discovery exam, structural and postural assessment, neurological testing and digital imaging before any recommendations are made.

Do you see children and pregnant women?

Yes. The practice offers pediatric and pregnancy chiropractic, is a DFW Mom & Child Approved Provider, and offers family plans. No referral is needed.
